My Story
I was fascinated by travel at an early age; a career in hospitality and travel seemed inevitable. After graduating from one of the top hotel schools in Asia, I started my real-world training with the Taj Group of Hotels, Resorts & Palaces in India. I moved on to Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts in San Francisco, where I mastered a variety of roles in operations, ecommerce, and revenue management. These experiences gave me the chance to cover every possible department in a hotel, and also begin to understand and manage the impact of online technology and marketing on hotel revenue.
My career veered toward technology while I was in San Francisco. I decided to move into online revenue, distribution, and optimization technology services. This was a life-changing experience for me. I worked in international technology sales while continuing to develop my expertise in hotel-specific technology and online services. Working with and increasing revenue for clients from San Francisco to NYC, London to Tokyo, was exhilarating! Over the years, I have maintained a strong focus on marketing, revenue management, and online distribution strategy.
I took a dive into entrepreneurship in 2006 with the launch of Evision Worldwide. For 10 years, my partners and I served a wide range of clients. We delivered online marketing and revenue management to inns and independent hotels of all sizes; created new branding and cutting-edge websites for emerging brands, such as Ace Hotels and Yotel; and provided portfolio-wide audits and asset turnaround strategies for some of the largest real estate investment funds and property management groups in the world, including Starwood Capital, MSD Capital, Chartres Lodging, and Highgate Holdings.
I have had pivotal roles in improving hospitality assets worldwide, including locations such as Singapore, Paris, London, Barcelona, Tokyo, UAE, Oman, and Germany. My online revenue optimization strategies helped power some of the biggest and most successful private equity hotel turnaround deals of the last decade. In 2016, I joined The Rainmaker Group as Vice President, Revenue Optimization. My department focused on the formulation and execution of Rainmaker’s revenue optimization services for our hospitality and gaming industry clients. In my last corporate role, I served as Vice President, Marketing and Distribution at MCR Investors, the seventh largest hotel owner/operator in the US. I focused on increasing room revenues and profits for all of MCR’s hotel assets.
Throughout my career, my work has focused on integrating revenue management with digital marketing, distribution technology, and ecommerce. Unless all these departments are working together, you will not achieve peak revenue and profits for your hotel, resort or inn.

My Writing & Speaking
Several years ago, I noticed that there was a lack of meaningful content on revenue optimization and digital marketing. Most of the information online was being produced by agencies in “press release style” or for the purpose of selling products and services. So in 2013, I launched my Words of Vikram blog, where I share my stories, perspectives, and thoughts about the industry. It’s a place where I can make powerful, real-world advice accessible to anyone who cares to listen. Today, my articles are quoted, shared and reposted by some of the leading travel websites in the world. I love the feedback I get every month from my tribe of subscribers all over the globe.
I speak at industry conferences for the same reason I write. My mission is always to educate owners, hoteliers and marketers on making smarter decisions that can lead to huge leaps in revenue and profitability. I give 100% to my events in order to get the audience to engage, think smarter, and take action.

After traveling the world, I have settled in my favorite spot, Hawai’i.
